Chest Measurement

To get the chest measurement of your suit jacket, first lay your suit on a hard, flat surface and button it all up. Take a measuring tape and measure across from arm pit seam to arm pit seam along the widest part of the chest of your suit's jacket.

 Length Measurement

To get the length measurement of your suit jacket, lay your suit flat so that its back is facing up. Take a measuring tape and measure from the bottom of the collar all the way down to the bottom of the coat.

Shoulder Measurement

To get the shoulder length measurement of your suit jacket, lay your suit flat so that its back is facing up. Take a measuring tape and measure from shoulder seam to shoulder seam at your suit's widest point.

 Sleeve Measurement

To get the sleeve measurement of your suit jacket, lay your suit flat on a hard surface and measure your suit from the tallest point of your shoulder seam right down to the end of your suit sleeve's cuff.

Waist Measurement

To get the waist measurement of your suit jacket, lay your suit flat on a hard surface. Take a measuring tape and measure from side to side across the upper button. A good rule of thumb is that the waist measurement is usually 2-4” smaller than the chest measurement. Typically, they are 2” smaller on jackets that are targeted at older men (Hickey Freeman, Oxxford, most Brioni & Kiton etc.), and 4” smaller on jackets that are meant for younger men (most designers.)

Measured Waist Size

To get the waist measurement for your suit pants, lay your pants flat on a hard surface. Take a measuring tape and measure from one side to the other and multiply that measurement by two to account for the other side of the pants.

 Measured Length Size (Inseam)

To get the length measurement of your suit pants, lay your pants flat on a hard surface. Take a measuring tape and measure from the crotch seam (the four corners section where all the seems intersect) to the bottom cuffs your pants.

Measured Front Rise

To get the "front rise" measurement of your suit pants, lay your pants flat on a hard surface. Take a measuring tape and measure from crotch seam (the four corners section where all the seems intersect) to the top of your pants (this is the shortest measurement of all of your suit measurements).
